If you are having a heart scan (Coronary Artery Calcium scan) you may be asked to avoid caffeine from coffee, tea, or caffeinated beverages for four hours before your scheduled time.

Because you have already scheduled your HeartLung appointment, you’ll just scan your QR code. Once you’re in the CT scan room, you just need to remove metal items, because they can affect the CT images. The technologist will help you get positioned on the CT scan machine and explain the procedure. The scan itself just takes a few minutes. Afterward, you will scan your QR code on the way out.

Depending on the scan, and the criteria for obtaining it, insurance providers may provide coverage. Currently, HeartLung™ screening tests from a CT of the chest is limited to lung cancer and bone mass density; both tests are covered under specific circumstances.
